A technique, not a preference

No-prep or minimal-prep veneers?

This isn't a question of taste — it's a question of what your teeth can actually support. Here's how we work out, case by case, which of the two techniques will give you the most natural, most durable result.

Side by side

What actually separates the two techniques

No-Prep Veneers

Bonded directly onto the tooth, with no grinding or drilling. Suited to teeth that are already well positioned, with little wear and healthy enamel structure.

  • Little to no enamel removal
  • Often reversible
  • Ideal for a shade change or a minor shape correction
  • Needs already well-aligned teeth for a natural look

Minimal-Prep Veneers

A thin, controlled layer of enamel is removed for a more precise fit. Suited to teeth that are more irregular, stained, or need a more noticeable correction.

  • More predictable fit and strength
  • Better control over final shade and shape
  • Corrects irregularities no-prep can't fix alone
  • Generally not reversible once enamel is removed
Why it isn't yours to guess

Why a photo assessment changes everything

Many patients arrive thinking they want "no-prep" because it sounds like the best option on paper. The problem: forcing the no-prep technique onto teeth that aren't suited to it gives a result that's too bulky, poorly fitted, or simply doesn't look natural once placed.

That's why every treatment at Dentasmart starts with a real assessment of your teeth — not a technique decided in advance. Send your photos, and our team tells you honestly which of the two suits you, before we even talk about price.

What we look at in your photos

  • Current alignment of your teeth
  • Shade and level of staining
  • Shape and existing enamel wear
  • The result you're actually after
FAQ

Your questions on the two techniques

What is the difference between no-prep and minimal-prep veneers?
No-prep veneers are bonded directly onto the tooth with no grinding or drilling — little to no enamel is removed. Minimal-prep veneers require the controlled removal of a thin layer of enamel for a more predictable fit, strength and shade match. It isn't a matter of preference: it's determined by the current state of your teeth.
How do you know which technique is right for me?
After receiving your photos on WhatsApp (and an in-clinic scan if needed), our team assesses your alignment, current shade, tooth shape and enamel strength. Teeth that are already well aligned with little wear are often good no-prep candidates; more irregular or heavily stained teeth usually need minimal-prep for a reliable, lasting result.
Is no-prep always the best option?
No. No-prep is the most conservative approach, but forcing it onto teeth that aren't suited to it can leave the veneer looking bulky, poorly fitted, or unnatural. Dentasmart's priority is the most durable, natural-looking result for your teeth — not whichever technique is cheapest for us to deliver.
Can I find out which one I need before flying to Dubai?
Yes, in the vast majority of cases. Send a few clear photos of your teeth (closed smile, open smile, close-up) on WhatsApp — our team gives you an initial recommendation and price before your first in-clinic appointment, confirmed on arrival.
Is it reversible?
No-prep veneers are often reversible, since very little or no enamel is removed. Minimal-prep veneers, once the enamel is removed, are generally not reversible — an important point to understand before deciding, which we explain clearly during your assessment.

Every case is different. The final technique, exact price and treatment timeline are confirmed after assessment of your photos and, if necessary, an in-clinic scan. This page is informational and does not replace individual medical advice.

Which technique suits you? We'll tell you in one message.

Send 2-3 photos of your smile on WhatsApp — an honest answer on the right technique for your case, with a price, most often the same day.
